It is now a requirement for every Surgery to have a PPG. The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of patients at a surgery who have an interest in the services provided. Patient Participation Groups cross barriers, embrace diversity and work in partnership with the surgery to improve common understanding and help identify new services to meet patients' needs.
Every registered patient at Frithwood Surgery is a member of our Patient Participation Group, but if you are interested in getting more involved please contact the Practice Manager.

Patient Participation Report 2014-2015.doc
We are all aware that the overuse of antibiotics has had a detrimental effect on treating patients, finding the right medicine to treat an illness is no longer a simple task. However, there is a new device which can be used in the Surgery to test a small blood sample and have a diagnosis in 3 minutes. Currently a sample needs to be sent to Gloucester and the results available in 3-4 days. The machine can determine whether the problem is viral or bacterial and so the GP's can prescribe the appropriate medicine, thus saving both time and money. Additionally the machine can detect other possible problems too. BUT - with NHS funds at a low ebb there are no plans to issue every practice with a machine. So, the Frithwood Patient Participation Group (PPG) have decided that this is what the 2017 Lottery will purchase and also fund the testing equipment when in use. It will be the first machine in Gloucestershire and we know that your support for the lottery has resulted in the purchase of vital equipment. We feel that it will be a useful tool to give the correct treatment to our patients at the right time. So with a monthly first prize of £100 and the machine, not only will you be healthier but your bank balance will be healthy too!!
Please support this purchase - lottery application forms are available in the surgery.
Thank you for your support it will mean so much to so many people.
