Important Information for patients attending an appointment

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPOINTMENTS - Nursing appointments are now being offered in the building. If you have a face to face appointment booked at the practice, please look at the following information carefully:

Please note :  All appointments with a doctor will be by phone call initially. There will be no 'walk-in' appointments available to book on the day. Please continue to use the Dispensary hatch/window in the same way - DO NOT enter the building if you are coming to the Dispensary.

If you have been given an appointment, we request that you protect yourself, our vulnerable patients and our staff as follows :

  • Please wear a face covering such as a mask

  • Please come on your own, or if that's not possible, with just your main carer

  • Please arrive for your appointment on time, NOT before

  • If you have suffered from any Covid19 symptoms in the last 7 days, DO NOT come to the practice. Likwise, if any members of your household have had symptoms in the last 14 days

  • We recommend you use the toilet at home and wash your hands before coming to the practice

  • Please use the hand gel that is provided for you on the way in, without fail

  • Remember to maintain social distancing in the Waiting Room 

  • Finally, for everyone's safety, please remember that you are only to enter the building if you have an appointment booked. No appointment = No entry

Welcome to Frithwood Surgery

PracticeWelcome to our surgery website where we hope you will quickly benefit from a user friendly layout and a wealth of information about our healthcare services. We serve a rural community and are based in the new development of Bussage. Our Surgery has recently been extended to cater for the growing needs of our community and local villages within a five mile radius; Chalford, Eastcombe, Brownshill, France Lynch and Bisley. Our new waiting room is light, airy and welcoming with a new reception area and an optional 'self-check in' system. Variable height seating is available along with a book swap shelf and a child's play area.

Our helpful staff are on hand to provide a personal, friendly and discrete service to meet your needs and the Dispensary is available for patients who qualify. Find out when we’re open and what to do when we’re not, all from the comfort of your own home.

General Data Protection Regulations - GDPR

What is GDPR?

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulations and is a new piece of legislation that will supersede the Data Protection Act. It will not only apply to the UK and EU; it covers anywhere in the world in which data about EU citizens is processed.

The GDPR is similar to the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998 (which the practice already complies with), but strengthens many of the DPA’s principles. The main changes are:

  • Practices must comply with subject access requests
  • Where we need your consent to process data, this consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous
  • There are new, special protections for patient data
  • The Information Commissioner’s Office must be notified within 72 hours of a data breach
  • Higher fines for data breaches – up to 20 million euros

Friends and Family Test

From the 1st December 2014 GPs have a contractual obligation to offer the Friends and Family Test (FFT).  It is a short survey to help us assess how our patients rate the service we provide.  The FFT provides an opportunity to highlight both good and poor patient experience.  This kind of feed back is important because its helps us improve the service to our patients.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey about your General Practice and your most recent visit to the Surgery either online by clicking on the link on the right of this page under 'Have your say' or the link below or by completing a response card when you are next in the Surgery, these can be found in the waiting room.

Named Accountable GP

From the 1st April 2015 practices are required, under the GMS contract, to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients, including children.  This named accountable GP is responsible for the patient's overall care at the Practice.

At Frithwood Surgery the GPs work closely together so this change will not affect your ability to make an appointment or speak with any of the GPs in the practice.

Your named GP has been allocated to you by the Practice, if you have a repeat prescription the name of your accountable GP will be printed on the bottom of the right hand page of the prescription. If you do not have a repeat prescription and wish to know who your accountable GP is please ask at your next appointment.  If you request an emergency appointment it will be with any of the doctors who have an available appointment.  New patients registering with the practice will be allocated a GP within 21 days of registration.

If you were registered with Frithwood Surgery before 1st April 2015 and were aged over 75 or took part in the Unplanned Emergency Admissions service provision you will already have been allocated a named accountable GP and this will not change.

Providing Healthcare for the Stroud Area

The GPs of the Stroud Area have been offered an opportunity to take part in a project to improve patient access to primary care services for the residents of Stroud and surrounding areas. Extra GP clinics will be held during normal hours, and additional appointments will also be available between 6.30pm and 8.00pm every weekday evening and on Saturday mornings. Patients registered with any participating GP Surgery within the Stroud Area will be able to have an appointment at these extra clinics.

This is an exciting project and involves 12 GP surgeries in the Stroud area working together for the benefit of their patients.

This project will be closely monitored on how it is performing, and whether we, as a primary care community, are delivering the care required to meet the healthcare needs of the Stroud Area.
